Veterans Benefits & Military Funeral Honors

Honoring those who have served our country

Military Funeral Honors

Families often choose to honor a Veteran with military funeral honors. This tribute, consisting of the playing of Taps, flag folding, and presentation of the flag, is led by a two-person detail representing the Veteran's branch of service. Following U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) guidelines, the flag may also be used as a drape over the coffin. If you are interested in military funeral honors, please speak to your funeral director, who will coordinate this effort on your behalf.

Funeral and Memorial Benefits

If your loved one served in the military, you may be eligible for burial and memorial benefits through the VA. Certain parameters must be met to establish eligibility, and some of these benefits are available to the spouse and dependent children, as well as the Veteran. Benefits may include a headstone and marker, burial or memorial plot in a VA National Cemetery, and reimbursement of some burial expenses. Your Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow funeral director will be happy to help your family review the guidelines, with final eligibility determined by the VA.
