Mrs. Yvonne Ruth Elder, age 88, of Weatherford, Texas, passed away on February 8, 2010. Ruth was born on January 21, 1922, to Sul Ross and Myrtle (Piquette) Ratliff. She married her husband, Harry B. Elder, on August 31, 1941 in Rockwall, Texas. Ruth was a member and secretary of First Presbyterian Church of McKinney for many years. She was an active member of the Collin County Humane Society. Ruth cared about the welfare of animals, and was always prepared to help a stray with a bag of food and bottled water she kept in the trunk of her car. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Elouise Elder Thompson of Mineral Wells, Texas; son, Mack Elder and wife Jean, of Greenville, Texas; grandchildren, Becky Thompson, Daniel Thompson, Jason Elder and wife Kelly; great-grandchildren, Austin Fielder, Jenna Elder, and Jessica Elder. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry, and parents. Donations in her memory may be made to the Collin County Humane Society. Graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm, on Sunday, February 14, 2010, at Ridgeview Memorial Park, in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation held from 1:30-2:30pm prior to the graveside service in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
