Yvonne L. (Von) Martin Dunn

Mrs. Yvonne L. (Von) Martin Dunn, age 68, of Richardson, Texas, departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 1, 2004, in Dallas, Texas. She was born May 8, 1936, in Paris, Texas, to Charlie and Nina Estelle (Spann) Martin. She married Von Roy Dunn on December 31, 1958, in Dallas. Von belonged to Mended Hearts Dallas Chapter #30 and the International Graphoanalysts Society. Von served on almost every office in Mended Hearts Dallas and was the first woman to be elected to the National Board of Directors of Mended Hearts, Inc. Von served the Texas Graphoanalysts Society as Historian since 1984. She was the Graphoanalyst of the year in 1989. Von had the first open-heart surgery performed at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas, in 1957. Since that time she worked with the American Heart Association, serving on two boards, starting a Mended Hearts Chapter in Dallas, and setting up visiting programs in the area hospitals to visit pre and post-op heart surgery patients. She was also a volunteer at Medical City Dallas Hospital for many years. She is survived by her husband, Von R. Dunn of Richardson, Texas; sisters, Clara Morgan and husband, Bobby of Canton, Texas, and Juanita Redding of Dallas, Texas; brother, Bobby Martin and wife, Sandra of Hollis, New Hampshire; niece, Rhonda Gayle Biggs who was like a daughter to her; adopted granddaughters, Kimberly Ward and Ashley Biggs; adopted great-grandson, Austin Ward; several other nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends and church family whom she loved very much. She was preceded in death by her mother, Nina Martin and father, Charlie Martin; niece, Terri Lynn Caster who was like a daughter to her; sisters, Lucille Vaughn and Juanell Tidwell; and brothers, Charles Martin and Jack Martin. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, November 4, 2004, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Rev. Terry Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Altoga Cemetery, Altoga, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
