XiChang Zhuang, age 88, residing in Allen, Texas, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022, from an illness. He was born in Suzhou, China on September 26, 1933, to YongTu and Fengxian (Wang) Zhuang. XiChang married ShouQiu Chen in Shanghai, China on December 7, 1960 and enjoyed 62 beautiful years spent together. He was a graduate from FuDan University, Shanghai, China between 1952 and 1956 where he earned his bachelor’s degree of History. XiChang remained teaching in FuDan University as professor of history.
Professor Zhuang has been engaged in teaching for more than 40 years. He has offered courses such as "Modern World History", "General World History" and "Special Topics in World War II History" for undergraduates and graduate students. Compilation of lecture notes such as "History and Overview", "Modern British History" and "National Liberation Movement". The "Introduction to World Cultural History" course he opened was the first in China and promoted the development of the domestic world cultural history discipline. He has published books such as "World Cultural History", "Western Cultural History", "American Culture in the 20th Century", and "Relationship between German, Italian and Japanese Fascism and Feudalism" and "Immigration" in "People's Daily", "Fudan Journal" and other newspapers.
Since 1978, he has been the Department Chair of History of FuDan University, the President of the Academy of Arts and Culture and the Vice President of FuDan University.
XiChang Zhuang retired in February 2000. And spent most his retirement life with his wife and sons’ beloved families in the United States.
XiChang is survived by his loving wife, ShouQiu of Allen, Texas; sister, Xihua Zhuang of Wuhan, China; sons and daughters-in-law, JiaJin and Ping Zhuang of West Windsor, New Jersey, JiaHe and Joyce Zhuang of San Jose, California, and JiaMin and YuJue Zhuang of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, William, Eric, Zack, Max, and Yue; and by numerous other family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Sunday, August 21, 2022, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location. The service will be followed by a procession to his final resting place at Ridgeview West Memorial Park, 12130 Peaceful Lane, Frisco, Texas 75033.
The family will receive friends during a visitation on Saturday, August 20, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
