Wynona Oney, age 92, of Allen, Texas, passed away July 8, 2009, in Sherman, Texas. Wynona was born November 12, 1916, in Knobel, Arkansas, to Charles Edward and Maude Whitaker. She married Frank Lafayette Oney on July 3, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri.
In most recent years, she was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church in Allen, Texas.
Wynona was a pediatrics nurse at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Her talents and creativity included but was not limited to being an amazing seamstress, cake decorator and porcelain dollmaker.
Her love and devotion to Our Lord was primary in her life which was displayed to the world by being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She touched the lives of many and will be forever remembered for her love and constant care and concern for family and friends.
She is survived by her sons, James Patrick Oney and his wife, Janie of Katy, Texas and Michael Raye Oney and his wife, Margaret of California; daughter, Evelyn Marie Peel and her husband, Ronald of Allen, Texas. She had thirteen grandchildren and their spouses; John Oney of Ridgecrest, California; Frank Oney of Bullhead City, Arizona; JoLynn Oney of Bullhead City, Arizona, Jack & Sheri Gregory of Missouri; Shawn & Becky Oney of Katy, Texas; Starlene and Ron Breece of Katy, Texas, Michelle and Mike Chierotti of Ridgecrest, California; Christina and Jerry Cline of Wichita, Kansas; Theresa Oney of Ridgecrest, California, Danielle Waltrip of Allen, Texas; Christopher Peel of Allen, Texas; Angel Moore of Midland, Texas and Anthony and Jayne Peel of Midland, Texas; twenty-six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nephew, Gary Hower and his wife, Debbie of Quenemo, Kansas; great-niece, Lori Dawn Bell of Pratt, Kansas; and great-nephew, Gary Hower of Quenemo, Kansas and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Frank Oney in 1999, son, John Stanley Oney in 2007, and sister, Charlene Marie Shearer in 2000.
A Mass and memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, Texas. Interment is planned to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park.
