WT Bell, affectionately known as “Papa,” passed away peacefully on October 12th, 2026 at the age of 92.
Born August 20, 1934, in Celeste, TX WT lived a life defined by hard work, sacrifice, resilience, and unwavering devotion to family. Raised with humble beginnings, he learned the value of hard work at an early age. Those lessons shaped the man he would become and guided him throughout his life.
WT, along with his brother Buddy, built and operated their own concrete business, spending decades providing for his family and serving his community. He was the kind of man who believed in showing up, working hard, and doing what needed to be done.
While he was known for his feisty spirit, stubborn streak, and occasional grumbling, those who knew him best understood that behind every complaint was a heart full of love and generosity.
He opened his home to anyone in need, welcomed family members during difficult times, and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. His love was not expressed through grand words or sentimental gestures, but through actions, sacrifice, and a lifetime of caring for others.
WT enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with those he loved. He never met a stranger for long and had a unique way of making people feel like family. He loved to tease those closest to him, and if he poked fun at you, you knew you belonged. His stories, humor, and feisty personality will continue to bring smiles to all who knew him.
One of the greatest joys of WT's life was his wife, Artie Fay “Peggy” Bell. Their love story was built on loyalty, hard work, and a lifetime of shared memories. Together they created a home filled with family, laughter, and countless memories that will be treasured for generations.
He is survived by his children, JoAnn Hoffeld, Linda Bilderback and husband, Dave, Carl Bell and wife, Tammy, and Judy Campbell and husband, Brice.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Clifton Massey, Michelle Terrell, Crystal Bucko, Darrel O'Pry and partner, Elena, Tammie Massey, Leticia Bell and husband, Vinny and Jaicea Dyches and husband, Johnny.
His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Destiny Couillard, Colby Massey, Clayton Worthington, Landon and Luka Dyches, Marilyn Stubbs, Ronin O'Pry, and Stetson Bucko.
He is further survived by numerous cousins, extended family members, dear friends, neighbors, and many others who became family along the way.
WT was preceded in death by his wife, Artie Fay “Peggy” Bell; his parents, W.H. Bell and Louise Chenault; and his children, Leroy, Peggy Sue, and Dennis.
Though he has left this earthly life, the lessons he taught, the stories he shared, and the love he demonstrated through a lifetime of hard work and dedication to his family will remain with all who knew him. He will be remembered for his strength, generosity, unwavering loyalty to his family, and yes, his legendary stubbornness.
His family finds comfort in knowing that if determination, grit, and love could keep someone with us forever, Papa never would have left.
