Woodrow Wilson Pirtle

Mr. Woodrow Wilson Pirtle, age 91, of Dallas, Texas passed away July 8, 2005, in Dallas. He was born April 16, 1914, in Windom, Texas to Daniel Alfred and Hester Frances (Turman) Pirtle. On June 1, 1941, he married Mary Elizabeth Morrison in Telephone, Texas. Mr. Pirtle served in the U.S. Airforce and was a veteran of World War II. In 1941, he received his bachelor’s degree from East Texas State Teachers College and his master’s in School Administration from the University of Texas at Austin in 1947. He was a high school teacher and principal, retiring after 41 years of service in Texas schools. He was a member of the Retired Texas Teacher’s Association and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Sundown, Texas. He was also a member of Plano Bible Chapel in Plano, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Mary Pirtle of Dallas, Texas; daughters, Sandy Mittelstet Bivona of Plano, Kathy and husband, Dr. Howard Clark of Memphis, Tennessee; grandchildren, Amy Mittelstet of Dallas, Mandy Stuber and husband, Chad of The Woodlands, Texas, Jonathan Clark of Williamsburg, Virginia and Kaitlyn Clark of Memphis; unborn great grandson, Andrew Jacob Stuber; and sister, Inez Scott of Vernon, Texas. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kristin Elizabeth Clark in 1988; 2 sisters and 4 brothers. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 11, 2005, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service for visitation.
