Woodley Hollis McCarley

Woodley Hollis McCarley, age 94, of Blue Ridge, Texas, passed away on May 17, 2017 in Sherman, Texas.  He was born August 26, 1922 in Blue Ridge, Texas to John Wilson and Nettie Hollis McCarley. He was the oldest out of 9 siblings.   He married Wanda May on December 6, 1941 in Durant, Oklahoma. They were married 68 years.

Woodley was a farmer, rancher and dairyman.  Some of his accomplishments were; he helped establish Frognot Water Supply, he was a lifetime member of the Blue Ridge, Whitewright, and Leonard Riding Clubs and President of the Whitewright Riding Club, served on the Board of Bonham Rural Electrical Association, Blue Ridge School Board Trustee, Manager of the Blue Ridge Coop Gin, employed by Monsanto 22 years and then retired, member of Woodmen of the World, member of Quarter Horse Breeders Association for 30 years and also a member of the Quarter Horse Association.

He is survived by; children, Judy Jenkins and husband Terry, Karun Tillett and husband Curtis and Lou Darwin and husband Bob; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will be on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Hurst’s Fielder Baker Funeral Home in Farmersville.  Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Johnnie Jones officiating.  Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Cemetery in Blue Ridge, Texas. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Texoma Cancer Center or American Heart Association in Mr. McCarleys name.
