Winnie Alyne Watson Rasor, age 90, of McKinney, Texas passed away March 4, 2008 at her home. She was born May 20, 1917, on a farm in Allen, Texas, the daughter of Joseph Perry and Lura Pearl (McKinney) Watson. The family moved to McKinney when she was two years old. She graduated from Boyd High School and North Texas State University. On January 3, 1943, she married William Henry (Buzz) Rasor in McKinney. Although Winnie’s main career was that of a wife and mother, she taught school at Chambersville, Farmersville and Little Elm. She was an active member of the First Christian Church of McKinney for seventy-seven years where she served as a Deaconess, a member of CWF, Sunday School teacher, and former board member. She had been a member of the Frisco United Fund, Frisco Garden Club, Community Center Board, a PTA life member, the Edelweiss Club, Tyrolese Club, Retired Teachers Association of Collin County, Book Review, and 42/84 groups. Winnie loved her family dearly which included her son, William Henry (Bill) Rasor III and his wife, Becky of Van Alstyne; her daughter, Lura Beth (Lu) Smith and her husband, Charles (Butch) of Plano; grandchildren, William Henry (Will) Rasor IV and his wife, Kim of Van Alstyne, Ann Wells and her husband, Ross of McKinney, and Charles Smith II of Washington, DC; great-grandchildren, William Henry (Quinn) Rasor V and Caitlyn Elizabeth Rasor of Van Alstyne; and great-nephew, Brian Aynesworth III and his wife, Sarah, and their sons, Brian IV, Lewis, John Victor, and William of Waco, TX. Winnie was an inspiration to her family and many friends who will miss her dearly. Preceding her in death were her husband William H. (Buzz) Rasor in 1976; her parents; her sister, Elizabeth Watson; and her brother, Jack Watson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 7, 2008 at First Christian Church of McKinney with Dr. Neill Grimes officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home on Thursday evening beginning at 7:00 PM. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 1800 W. Hunt St., McKinney, TX 75069.
