Willie Mae (Woodard) Hays of McKinney, Texas passed away on April 15, 2020 at the age of 85. She was born on September 7, 1934 to Melvin Franklin Woodard and Opal (Welch) Woodard in Altoga, Texas. She grew up in Melissa, Texas and attended schools in McKinney, Texas. Willie Mae worked as a CNA and a home health care aide. She started out taking care of folks in the nursing home and then transitioned them back home. Willie Mae enjoyed reading, working puzzles and country music. She is of Baptist faith.
Willie Mae is survived by her daughter, Joy Lynn Deshazo and husband, William of Sherman, Texas; sisters, Shirley Woodard and Mary Woodard, both of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Adam Gonzales of San Antonio, Texas and Alexander Deshazo of Sherman, Texas; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Gonzales, Jesse Barrett, Savannah Barrett and Odin Gonzales; and a host of other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Opal Woodard; husband, Charles Gordon Hays; children, James Franklin Hays, Charles Neil Hays and Jeanette Renée Hays; granddaughter, Krystle Roxanne Barrett; and brother, Melvin Woodard, Jr.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.
