William Alan George

William Alan “Willie” or “Bill” George of Lucas, Texas passed away on June 1, 2020 at the age of 71. He was born on October 15, 1948 to William Abraham and Shirley Florine (Bauman) George in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His family moved to Texas when he was 3, where he lived for the remainder of his life as a proud Texan.

William was raised in Irving, and attended MacArthur High School and El Centro Junior College. William married Karen Sue Snow on June 22, 1968 in Dallas, Texas.  He served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves from 1970-1976. After his early career in the computer industry, Willie founded Texas Erosion Supply in Wylie, Texas.  He led and built the company into one of the leading businesses in the erosion control industry in Texas - one of his proudest achievements.  He and Karen retired from the business in 2017.

William was diagnosed with PSP (a progressive neurological condition) in 2008, and fought valiantly to maintain a high quality of life until his death. His determination and courage were admired by everyone who knew him.

He loved to travel, hunt, golf, and fish, and did his best to continue these activities as often as possible. The most important part of his life was spending time with his beloved family.

William was of the Lutheran faith. He was the heart and soul of his family and is survived by his wife, Karen George; son, William Alan George, II and wife, Cindy; son, Ryan Alexander George; grandchildren, Hunter George, Summer George, Skylar George, and Giavanna George - all of whom live in Lucas, Texas near Willie and Karen.  He is also survived by brother, Jimmy George and wife, Bonnie of Richardson, Texas; sister, Connie Uhri and husband, Jeff of Richardson, Texas and sister, Vicki Harkrider and husband, Bo of Plano, Texas; and numerous other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Shirley George.

A memorial service will be held at a later date when conditions are safe.
