William Stanley Vernier of Fairview, Texas passed away on March 18, 2022 at the age of 89. He was born on September 15, 1932 to William J. Vernier and Ada Elizabeth (McQuillen) Vernier in Portsmouth, Ohio. William graduated from Fairborn High School in Fairborn, Ohio with the class of 1951. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. William married June F. Simmons on November 20, 1954 in Dayton, Ohio. He graduated from the University of Ohio with a bachelor’s degree with the class of 1956 and he received his master’s degree at the University of Dayton with the class of 1959. William’s hobbies included golf, exercising, gardening, traveling, spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in McKinney, Texas.
William is survived by his wife, June Vernier of Fairview, Texas; daughter, Karen Denise Hammer and husband, Gregory of Memphis, Texas; sons, William K. Vernier and wife, Jennifer of Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Daniel T. Vernier and wife, JJ of McKinney, Texas and Jeff A. Vernier and wife, Carolyn of McKinney, Texas; 8 grandchildren, Kristina, Leanne, Valerie, Alex, Mara, Cameron, Zach and Adam; 6 great-grandchildren, Grace, Avery, Jay, Gavin, Chace and James; brother, James Vernier of Dayton, Ohio; sister, Janet Vernier of Portland, Oregon and brother, David Vernier and wife, Chris of Portland, Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ada Vernier.
Interment will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 8, 2022 at First United Methodist Church, 315 North Church Street, McKinney, Texas 75069.
