IN LOVING MEMORY

William Phillip Richardson, Jr.

Jun 27 1945 - Nov 27 2020

Phil was born in Dallas, Texas to William Philip Richardson, Sr. and Wiletta Middleton. He was a Christian and had accepted the Lord, Jesus Christ, as his savior at the age of 9. He prayed often.  He graduated from Cedar Hill High School in 1963. He attended Texas Agricultural & Mechanical College (today known as Texas A&M University) as a member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 1967.  Phil was a kind and caring man. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Excellence, integrity, leadership, respect, and selfless service are values for which he strived and instilled in his children and grandchildren.  He married Cheri Ann Young May 28, 1966. They had 2 children, Lorri and Phillip. In April 1979, Phil moved his family to McKinney, Texas wanting his children to grow up in a small-town atmosphere as he had.

In June of 1982, he and Cheri opened a tax preparation business in McKinney. At the end of 1989 and beginning of 1990, Michelle Woods and Lorri came on board as very fresh out of college employees. In 1995, Phil lost Cheri in a tragic car accident at which time he sold a portion of the company to Michelle and Lorri. The 3 of them were business partners for the next 25 years. Phil was an accomplished horseman, hunter, and marksman. He shot rifles, handguns, and skeet competitively at various times in his life. His favorite, by far, was shooting skeet with Phillip. They competed individually and as a team on a national level. In 1996, they won the Parent/Child Junior World Championship in the 20 gauge. It was one of Phil’s proudest moments.  In August 2006, Phil married Julie. They spent much of their free time at the top of their windy hill, outside on their back porch, watching and enjoying the small wildlife in the area and spending time with their dogs.

He is survived by his wife, Julie; daughter, Lorri Michele; son, William Phillip III; grandchildren, Rowan Angel, Regan Michele, and William Phillip IV. He loved all of them dearly.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Cheri.

Honorary pallbearers are his brother, Thomas Richardson; cousin, Bruce Richardson; and friends, John Stein, Ken Eason, Terry Kneedler, David Weaver, Travis Hepner, Steve Branch, Dr. Stephen Aronoff, Jim Tyrell, and Wayne Browder.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Rockwall Cemetery, Rockwall, Texas.
