William “Bill” John Hight of McKinney, Texas passed away on January 17, 2022 at the age of 82. He was born on September 19, 1939 to William Boone and Virginia (Hermus) Hight in Springfield, Illinois. Bill grew up in Grand Island, Nebraska where he graduated from high school. He graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s in business. After school Bill was accepted into the Officer Candidate School in the Navy. Before going to Arizona State, Bill met the love of his life, Karen Hight. It was Karen that led Bill to Arizona State. He never wanted to be far from Karen’s side. They married in 1963 and started their family together in 1964. David was born in 1964 and a few years later, their daughter, Melanie joined the family. Bill was a great father and provider for his family, they never went without. Bill was a man of few words. When he did speak, people listened. He was a helper. Whether he was giving words of advice or grabbing his tools and helping others with their garden, or just being present when needed, Bill was always there to help. Bill was a silent servant. He observed situations and always had an idea that brought more to the table than was there before.
He is survived by his daughter, Melanie Tibbets and husband, Bret of McAllen, Texas; granddaughters, Madison and Lauren Tibbetts of McKinney, Texas; niece, Janet Warner and husband, Jeff and daughter, Sarah Warner of Lincoln, Nebraska; nephew, Mike Dowd and wife, Rita of Lincoln, Nebraska; and numerous other loving family and friends.
