IN LOVING MEMORY

William David "Willie" Johnson

Feb 17 1933 - Oct 29 2018

William (Willie) David Johnson of Celina, Texas passed away on October 29, 2018 at the age of 85.  He was born on February 17, 1933 to Johnny Churchful and Clara Edna (Harrell) Johnson in Seymour, Texas.  Willie spent his early years growing up on a farm in the city of West, Texas where he grew to be a proud West High Trojan cracking heads on the football field as a fullback and linebacker.  He left West to proudly serve his country in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Radford during the Korean War.  After honorably serving his country, he moved to Ft. Worth, Texas where the love of his life was waiting his return.  William David Johnson and Mattie Pauline Terry were married on September 24, 1955 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Willie and family moved to Allen, Texas in the mid-sixties where he would spend the majority of his life.  He would store up many great memories in Allen, especially those that came from being a proud Allen Eagle. Willie worked for several years as a Master Machinist at U.S. Brass in Plano, Texas.  However, 25 years of his career was with Allen ISD Maintenance Department until his retirement in 1998.

More than anything else Willie loved visiting with family and friends.  He often made day trips just for this purpose.  He never met a recipe he didn’t like and got great joy out of cooking with family or even by himself.

Willie is survived by his children, Mike Terry and wife, Sheryl of Celina, Texas, Vicky Johnson Wilson of Sherman, Texas, Susan Reinis and husband, David of McKinney, Texas, Donna Johnson of Bells, Texas and Christy Akin of Bells, Texas; grandchildren, Sean Terry, Scot Terry, J.D. Wilson, Jacob Johnson, Jenna Bichler, Jessica Dejong, Dawson Reinis, Mattie Johnson, Stetson Akin, Brittany Akin, Ashlyn Akin, Kylee Terry, Kade Terry, Matthew Terry, Michaela Terry, Emory Dejong, Zane Dejong, Brice Bichler, Blair Bichler, Wrangler Holloway, Waylon Holloway and Walker Holloway; brother, Frank Johnson; sisters, Dean Russell and Janelle Cantrell; cousin, Hazel Dilldine; and a host of other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Clara Johnson; wife, Mattie Pauline Johnson; son, Richard Johnson; brothers, Turner Johnson, Chuck Johnson and Doyle Johnson; and sister, Elwanda McAlpin.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.  Graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Smyrna Cemetery in Emory, Texas.  The family will receive friends during a visitation Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
