William James "Bill" Yoss, Sr.

William James “Bill” Yoss, Sr., 89 year old Leonard resident, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2020 at the Texoma Medical Center of Denison.  Bill was born December 26, 1930 inMcAlester,OK.  His parents were William Henry and Loma Louise Nation Yoss.  Bill married Martha Jane Harmon March 12, 1951 atEnid,OK. Shortly after their marriage, Bill proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  Bill was an entrepreneur who worked at many different businesses and trades. After his service in the Army, Bill worked as a manager of a C.R. Anthony Store inMuskogee,OK.  Later, he worked as a salesman for Karman Western Wear inDallas. Bill was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.  After moving to Leonard, Bill and his wife, Martha, owned and operated the Leonard Mercantile.  Later, Bill served as Chief of Police in Leonard.  Bill also owned and operated the Leonard Boot and Shoe Repair.   Bill proudly served the Leonard community as its mayor for several years.  A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Bill is pending.

Bill is survived by his son:  Jim Yoss ofCuero,TX; his son and daughter-in-law:  Rick and Jennifer Yoss ofCenterville,TX.; his granddaughter and her husband:  Rachael and Jeff Collins of Little Elm, TX; his two great-grandchildren:  Catherine Collins and Jeffrey Collins, III, both of Little Elm,Texas.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents:  William Henry and Loma Louise Nation Yoss; his wife:  Martha Jane Harmon Yoss; a daughter:  Susan Yoss; his brother:  Norman Eugene Yoss and his sister:  Patti McCrary.
