William Tracy Cowle

William Tracy Cowle, of McKinney, Texas, passed away at the age of 65. He was born on May 21, 1961, in Reno, Nevada.

William graduated from Canyon del Oro High School in Tucson, Arizona, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Arizona. His career in journalism included writing for the Bisbee Paper, the Midland-Odessa American, the Fort Worth Business Journal, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, and The Dallas Morning News. He later transitioned into the financial industry and began working with TD Ameritrade in 2008 as a financial consultant, a career he continued for many years. After retiring from TD Ameritrade he earned his Reak Estate Lic and joined his wife’s Real Estate Team. He worked alongside his wife at Coldwell Banker Apex McKinney for over 7 years helping countless families buy and sell real estate.

William married Clennie Shinn on September 29, 2018, in McKinney, Texas. He was a member of Stepping Stones Church in McKinney.

William had a wide range of interests and passions. He was a devoted University of Arizona sports fan and enjoyed following sports of all kinds. An avid history buff, William had a particular fascination with military and war history. He loved to read and could often be found with a book in hand. He also had a deep appreciation for music and enjoyed the many ways it brought people together.

William was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Clennie Cowle of McKinney, Texas; son, William Cameron Cowle of Frisco, Texas; stepsons, Robert Weldon Hawthorne and wife, Gwen, of Keller, Texas, and Cameron Blake Hawthorne and wife, Emily, of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Austin Lacrosse, Adeline Hawthorne, Callen Hawthorne, and Harper Hawthorne; mothers, Ann Cowle and Nancy Thompson; sisters, Lisle Collins and husband, Jim, and Debora Sieverding and husband, Tom; brothers, Forrest Cowle, Morgan Cowle and wife, Kim, Dave Thompson and wife, Barbara, and Daniel Cowle and wife Shannon; and a host of numerous other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Chadwick Cowle, and father, William Francis Thompson.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 18, 2026, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
