William Hamilton "Bill" Thompson

William Hamilton “Bill” Thompson, age 87 of Frisco, Texas passed away on October 23, 2008 in Plano, Texas. He was born on March 10, 1921 in Kerens, Texas to Vance Hamilton and Clara (Gilliland) Thompson. Bill served his country in the US Army in WW II and was decorated with five Bronze Stars. He served in the 36th Division 133rd Field Artillery Battalion from deployment in North Africa through invasions in Italy, France and on to victory in Germany. He married Marion Virginia Lowe on August 6, 1941 in Fairfield, Texas and together they had four daughters. Bill worked for TXU (formerly TP&L) and was a Master Welder. He loved nature and the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He is survived by his daughters, Billy Marion Vandeventer and husband, Larkin of Frisco, Texas, Bobby Underwood and husband, Don of Plano, Texas, Betty Jane Brownsted and husband, Joe of Plano, Texas, Bonny Lou Bingham and husband, Bing of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Jennifer Hastie and husband, Ian, Elizabeth Reynolds and husband, Matthew, Adam Mann, Joshua Underwood, Holt Wilkins, Brad Bingham, Bryan Bingham; great-grandchildren, Joseph Kopidlansky, Madeline Reynolds, Hannah Reynolds, Samuel Reynolds, William (Liam) Underwood; sister, Mary Beth Layfield of Kerens, Texas; one nephew and two nieces. Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Marion Thompson and his two sisters, Willie V. Thompson and Margaret Welsh. Visitation will be held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Frisco, Texas on Friday, October 24, 2008 beginning at 6:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at The First United Methodist Church of Frisco with Rev. Matthew Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow at Kerens Cemetery.
