William Lawrence "Bill" Russell

Mr. William Lawrence “Bill” Russell, age 69, of Wylie, Texas passed away February 19, 2005, at the Medical Center of Plano. He was born on January 18, 1936, in Greensboro, North Carolina. On May 26, 1956, he married Joyce LaDean Johnson in Emory, Texas. Mr. Russell served in the United States Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a painter and of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Joyce LaDean Russell of Wylie; son, Bobby Russell of Wylie; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Danny Meek also of Wylie, Sherri and Farley Fowler of Gunter, Texas, Terri Russell of Pecan Gap, Texas and Nancy and Sidney Kile of Emory; sisters, Carolyn Freeman and Doris Coltrane both of North Carolina; brother, James Tilley of North Carolina; 9 grandchildren; his family in love, T.C. Johnson, Elwanda McAlpin, Willie Johnson, Chuck Johnson, Frank Johnson and Janelle Cantrell; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Russell; and father and mother-in-law, Johnny and Clara Johnson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 21, 2005, at the Believer’s Baptist Church, 1133 N. Texas (Hwy 19 N.), Emory with Pastor Jason Rolan officiating. Interment will follow at Smyrna Cemetery in Emory. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
