William Robert "Bob" Alderson, Jr.

William Robert “Bob” Alderson, Jr. of Caddo, Oklahoma passed away on March 6, 2017 at the age of 88.  He was born on December 24, 1928 to William Robert Alderson, Sr. and Nannie Louise (Swim) Alderson in Vernon, Texas.  Bob grew up in Vernon, Texas where he helped his dad farm. The family then moved to Plano, where he enjoyed sports.  He attended Texas Tech University and continued helping his dad farm. Bob married Wilma Christine Todd on April 27, 1950 in Plano, Texas.  He made a career in the insurance business.  The family moved to McKinney in 1959 and bought a Shetland pony farm.  Bob also helped Wilma at the Sweet Shop making donuts.  He always wanted a big house to host family reunions and get togethers.  Everyone was always welcome at their house and they knew they would be fed. Bob, known as “Grandpa A”, loved his family and loved going to church.  He enjoyed all kinds of sports, reading and playing a good hand of dominoes.  We all know how passionate he was about politics.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Wilma Alderson of Caddo, Oklahoma; sons, Tony Alderson and wife, Karen of Wolfe City, Texas; Pat Alderson and wife, Debbie also of Wolf City, Texas; daughter, Pam Owen and husband, Gary of Caddo, Oklahoma; sisters, Lola Wheeler of Mineola, Texas, Emma Harris of Cleburne, Texas; sisters-in-law, Betty Lott of Arizona, Obie Todd of Canton, Texas; grandchildren, Sandy Moncier, J.J. Cothran and husband, Sam, Stacy Alderson, Shannon Alderson, Michael Alderson, Molly Oliver and husband, Jarred, Matt Alderson, Mark Alderson and wife, Alexa, Scotty Owen and wife, Danielle, Chance Owen and wife, Lacey, Jennifer Wilcox and husband, Brady, Rebecca Cates and husband, Donnie, Jimmy Alderson and wife, Lisa, Justin Alderson and wife, Jessica; and many great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Nannie Alderson; son, David Alderson; daughter, Virginia Gail Alderson; brother, Homer Alderson; and sisters, Mary McCollum, Ruby Miller and Chris McCollum.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel in Allen, Texas.  Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
