William Joseph Rhea, III went home to be with his Lord on January 21, 2023. Joe was born on June 19, 1941 in McKinney, Texas to William Joseph Rhea, Jr. and Naomi (Lacy) Rhea. He was a Christian and a member of Waddill Street Baptist Church in McKinney. He cherished the friendship of the men in his Tuesday Morning Prayer Group and always made his rounds Sunday morning before the church service to give his funny one-line quips and a hug to everyone he met. Joe was a big Teddy Bear; loved people and never met a stranger. He was a sports fanatic and loved the Dallas Cowboys. Joe was the Area Vice President for Midas Muffler Shops in the Metroplex area for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Rochelle (Shelley) Rhea; daughter, Tammy Williams of Cove, Arkansas; brother, Bob Rhea and wife, Sonja of McKinney, Texas; grandsons, William Joseph Rhea, V “Joey” and wife, Julieta of Fort Worth, Texas, John Jacob Rhea “JJ” and wife, Erika of Anna, Texas, and John Wesley King of Melissa, Texas; granddaughters, Nicole “Nikki” Odle of Cove, Arkansas and Kristina King of Melissa, Texas; great-grandchildren, William Joseph Rhea, VI, Nicholas Rhea, Alexandria Rhea, Elijah Rhea, August Thurston, and Jack Thurston; step-children, Jennifer Eileen Miller and Jon-Michael Winton Craven; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, William and Naomi Rhea; son, William Joseph Rhea, IV “Little Joe”; daughter, Debbie King; brothers, Thomas Groves Rhea “Tom” and Jimmy Ray Acosta.
The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening, January 27, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. A memorial service will be held at Waddill Street Baptist Church, 1401 North Waddill Street, McKinney, Texas at a later date.
