William "Jack" Horner

William “Jack” Horner, age 77, of Plano, Texas, passed away on June 22, 2009. He was born on August 5, 1931 in Houston, Texas to William Ludwig and Elizabeth (Berghane) Horner. On March 24, 1974 he married Dorothy Louise McNeir in Dallas, Texas. William was active in Sigma Chi at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was a packaging engineer and later became a teacher and taught at Greenhill School in Dallas, Texas in the 1960’s and 1970’s. He entered into real estate in 1976 until 1996, working with Ebby Halliday and Remax. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Plano, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Horner of Plano, Texas; daughter, Kathleen Horner of Vancouver, Washington; brothers, David Horner of Carrollton, Texas and Richard Horner of Tulsa, Oklahoma; stepchildren, John Randolph Doyen and wife Alina of Ft. Worth, Texas, Dorothy Doyen Ridenour and husband Paul of Garland, Texas and Desiree Deirdre Doyen of Los Angeles, California; step grandsons, Jay Randolph Doyen, Chase Matthew Doyen, Christopher John Doyen and Stefan Edward Doyen; step granddaughter, Natalia Turuntseva; mother of Kathleen, Jean Smith of Yantis, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Elizabeth Horner and son, Bradley Neil Horner in 2006. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Christ United Methodist Church of Plano, with Rev. Bart Smith and Rev. Marjorie McNeir officiating. Burial will be held privately at McNeir Cemetery in Smith Point, Texas. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
