William G. Metzger, Jr. (Bill), 70, of Parker, Texas, passed away on December 4, 2024. He was born on April 20, 1954, in Fort Worth, Texas, to William George Metzger, Sr. and Jerene (Tidwell) Metzger.
Bill grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida, before moving back to Dallas, Texas, for work. It was in the Dallas area that he founded Wavedge Technologies, a company specializing in the design and creation of circuit boards. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to his work were integral to the success of his business.
In his personal life, Bill was an avid golfer, fisherman and a lover of the ocean. He found great joy in spending time on the beach, often vacationing by the water. His love for animals, especially sea turtles and his beloved black labs, was a defining part of his character. Bill cherished taking his dogs Maggie and Shelby to the lake and often out on the boat, where they created countless memories together.
Known for his honesty and fairness, Bill was a man who always tried to do right by those around him. He had a warm, kind heart and was deeply loved by his family and friends. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Bill is survived by his extended family and friends including Shelly Smith, and those who looked up to him as a father: Dalton Smith, Cecily Pio and Jeremy O’Bier; his four grandchildren who loved their “Pap Willie”: Landen O’Bier, Addison O’Bier, Presley O’Bier and Isaac Pio; his cousin, Gary Rodenbeck and wife, Brenda, as well as many cherished friends who will continue to carry his memory in their hearts.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, William G.Metzger, Sr.; mother, Jerene Tidwell Metzger; and sister, Susan A. Manis.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, December 20, 2024 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
