The Best of the Best!
Our Beloved Will left this earth peacefully, in his home, on July 24, 2018. Born in Dallas, Texas, on January 26, 1998. Will was the first born son of Nick and Margie Emmett. He grew up in Indio, California, and though it seems he left us far too early, he lived such a full and rich life. He so deeply loved and cherished his brother, Jackson, and his sister, Madelyn. He made his parents so proud, never missing a chance to cause a smile and touch their hearts.
Will truly loved with his beautiful heart and cherished being with his family and friends. Will was not shy to express his love to all. When you encountered Will, you could count on a smile and huge welcoming arms. Throughout Will's life, he earned countless academic and athletic awards. William’s intellect was something to behold. You could pick his brain on any topic and he would have an in-depth, well thought analysis about the question, almost as if he planned on you asking it.
Will touched so many people, always giving his sweet wisdom and precious love to anyone who needed him. Will was the type of person to seek out the weak and offer them peace in themselves, the kind of person to offer a hand to someone who had fallen. As an elementary student, Will loved to sing about the Love of Christ as a member of the Sacred Heart choir. One of his greatest joys was the years he spent on the football field; first in little league with the Cathedral City Lions, then at Palm Desert High as a proud Aztec. He cherished his teammates as brothers and his coaches as leaders. Will loved the classroom, never seeming to learn enough. He was always so grateful to his teachers. In High School, he was honored to be involved with “Friends 4 Change” and was particularly close with his beautiful friend, Stanley. William had a deep spiritual connection with nature. We could always tell when he had spent time outdoors because he glowed with happiness. He loved his goofy dogs, and they loved him. Will loved to cook. He relished in always trying new things.
Ask anyone about Will’s character and you will receive constants, like his respectful nature, his humorous wit, and his love for people and animals. Nothing could stop him from his goals. Though he suffered from a heart condition and endured a long and difficult heart surgery, endless medical exams and over a year of wearing a heart monitor, he remained fearless, earning a spot on the Humboldt State football team. Will arrived in Texas a year ago, and instantly made His mark. He found a welcoming home at the University of North Texas and adored the campus. He joined Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and truly cherished his new brothers. He loved his job at Flix Brewhouse, marveling at the complexities of the brewery, always joyfully educating his guests about the Beer.
Something we should all learn from William is the importance of leading a life free of fear. His preciseness and confidence in his actions and goals was something that many of us regular people lack. He is a very special man and will continue to bless us everyday with his spirit, love and guidance.
To you, William, we simply say Thank you!
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in his name to your local animal shelter.
