Mar 28 1938 - Sep 25 2017

W.C. Jackson, 79, a resident of Mayberry Gardens Assisted Living Center in Garland, passed away on September 25, 2017 in Garland, Texas. W. C. Jackson was born March 28, 1938 in Kilgore, Texas to George and Addie Jackson, their 6th child and third son.  The day W.C. was born, his mother died due to medical complications in childbirth.  He was raised in Kilgore by his father and sisters that remained at home until they each married.  He graduated from Sabine High School, in Liberty City, Texas in 1957.

After graduation at age 19, his immediate plans to join the Air Force were cancelled after he suffered a near fatal accident when falling 60 feet from an oil derrick where he was working with his father.  After a long period of unconsciousness and recuperation, he moved about the country, near his brothers and/or sisters doing odd jobs, finally settling in Garland, Texas after obtaining his Barber License in Tyler, Texas.  He then worked at the Safeway Food Co. warehouse for 14 years until its closure.  Afterwards, he was employed by the City of Garland, during which time he was in a car accident that rendered him disabled to work.

He was a faithful, lifelong member of the First United Pentecostal Church (now North Cities UPC) in Garland, Texas where met and married his first wife, Flossie in 1965.  After her passing, he met Nancy Strouss at his church and they married on his birthday in March of 1995.

W.C.  loved to garden and looked forward every year to growing fruits and vegetables that he loved to share with others.  He also shared his caring nature, and cheerful disposition to all who met and knew him.

He is survived by step daughter and step son-in-law, Kerry and Wayne Chenault and their children, Michael and Lisa; his sister, Naomi Johnson of Conroe, Texas; his niece, Mary and husband, Mark Davie of Sachse, Texas; along with other nieces and nephews and extended family and friends that mourn his loss.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Flossie, in 1991 and second wife, Nancy, in 2013; and his parents, George and Addie Jackson.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 30, 2017 at North Cities United Pentecostal Church, 502 Belt Line Road, Garland, Texas 75040.
