William August Steitle, Jr., affectionately known as Bill, peacefully joined his Savior, Jesus Christ, and reunited with loved ones on November 24, 2023. Welcoming him with open arms was his devoted wife of 55 years, Julie. Born on June 4, 1938, in Alice, Texas, Bill was the eldest child of William August Steitle, Sr., and Lillian Fuller. He is survived by his brother, Dick, and sister, Diane.
Growing up in Alice, Texas, Bill graduated from high school in 1956, actively participating in football and track. Although he initially attended the University of Houston, Bill answered the call to serve in the army and was assigned to Korea before completing his studies. Eventually, he finished his education graduating from Texas A & I in Kingsville, Texas.
While stationed in San Antonio, Bill began a beautiful love story with Julie, whom he married on January 27, 1965. They embarked on their life journey together beginning in Irving, Texas, where Bill embraced his role as a stepfather, and they welcomed a daughter of their own in May 1966. Bill followed in his father's footsteps, entering the oil drilling business. Starting with Dresser Industries, he worked his way up to become President of TRG Drilling Corporation, a subsidiary of W. R. Grace Corporation in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Bill's priorities were clear—he loved his Lord above all and cherished his wife and children deeply. Passionate about genealogy, he took pride in his German heritage. A true embodiment of a godly man, Bill served his Lord with grace and gladness throughout his life.
Bill is survived by his children: Amy Beard, John Hale and his wife, Kitty, Blaine Hale, Sr. and his wife, Millye, Leah Lescher, and Scott Stanford and his wife, Christy. Additionally, he leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, with one more expected in May. Surviving siblings include brother Dick Steitle and his two sons, and sister Diane Cornelius and her two daughters.
Bill's well-lived life echoes the sentiment, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
Bill’s celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 22, 2024, in the chapel at The Heights Church at 201 W. Renner Rd, Richardson, Texas 75080.
