IN LOVING MEMORY

Wesley Nunley

Dec 17 1919 - Mar 07 2009

Mr. Wesley Nunley, age 89, of Plano, Texas passed away March 7, 2009, in Plano. He was born December 17, 1919, to Ross and Lizzie (Lewis) Nunley. He married Billie Lovern Nunley, who preceded him in death on March 7, 2007. Mr. Nunley was the owner of Wes Lake Gravel for over 50 years. He was a hard working, energetic man, who loved life and his family. In his younger days he enjoyed deer and elk hunting in Colorado, as well as bird hunting. He also enjoyed deep sea fishing and running trot lines with his family. His life was devoted to his property in South Dallas that began as farmland and later his gravel company. In his later years, he built a hexagonal UFO pad on his lake property that said “Welcome Lord Jesus and UFO’s”. This project earned the attention of local and international media and he was subsequently given the title “Kook of the Year” by Texas Monthly Magazine, a title he shared that year with Ross Perot. Mr. Nunley intended to write the greatest story ever told – his life. He is survived by his sons, Wesley Wayne Nunley and wife, Marie of Pea Ridge, Arkansas, and Richard Nunley and wife, Peggy of Plano, Texas; brothers, William Roe Cleaver, Jr. and Joe Cleaver; sisters, Della Bledsoe and Marie Easterly; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2009, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Interment will follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 7:00-9:00 p.m., Monday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
