Wenona Marie McDonald Davis, 90, Leonard, entered into rest December 5, 2020 in Denison, Texas surrounded by her family.
Wenona was born the daughter of Horace H. and Cora Mae Duckworth McDonald in Blue Ridge, Texas, August 14, 1930. She lived in Blue Ridge until graduating from high school at which time she relocated to Dallas. She married John Harold Davis December 17, 1949 and moved to Leonard where she began working at First National Bank of Leonard until she and Harold began raising their family. She soon discovered being a working mom and raising three boys was a hard job so she left the bank to so she could stay close to home and keep a watchful eye out for them.
Wenona decided after the boys were much older, she would begin a new career in the beauty Industry. Over the last 50 years she owned and operated Crossroads Stylette Beauty Salon which became her passion second only to her family.
As “Queen” of the Dairy Queen Wenona would stop in every morning to see about 20 – 50 of her friends. She loved people and became quiet the social butterfly. She was an active member of the Church of Christ in Leonard and enjoyed attending services and being among her church family. Her love for art also became a passion as well which was evident from her paintings.
She is preceded in death by her husband John Harold Davis after 38 years of marriage and her parents Horace and Cora McDonald.
She is survived by three sons: Billy H. Davis and wife, Vickie of Leonard, Danny B. Davis & wife, of Gainesville and John R. Davis and wife, Debbie of Leonard.
10 Grandchildren; James H. Davis of Shiner, Kimberly K. Davis of Leonard, Nikia Davis Fuller of Van Alstyne, John M. Davis of Leonard, Darrell (Davis) Hodge and Darren (Davis) Hodge of Leonard and Danny L. (Davis) Hodge of Bells, Corrie Fulton, China Springs, Raychel Hammons of Celina and Emily Owens of Memphis, TN and 15 Great Grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
