Wendy Kobow, 61, was born and raised in Tigerton, Wisconsin. In 2008, she moved to Texas, where she made her home for the remainder of her life. She passed away on August 16, 2026.
Wendy was a strong, godly woman whose faith was an important part of who she was. She attended church regularly and lived with a deep love for the Lord. She also had a remarkable ability to connect with people. Wendy could strike up a conversation with just about anyone and, before long, make them feel as though they had been friends for years. She had a way of making people feel comfortable, welcomed, and important.
Family meant everything to Wendy. She shared an especially strong and loving bond with her son, Joshua. Their relationship was incredibly close, and the love they shared was a very important part of both of their lives.
Wendy also shared a lifelong bond with her sister, Michelle. Through the many seasons of life, their relationship remained a source of love, connection, and support. The bond they shared as sisters was one Wendy deeply treasured.
Wendy loved being a grandmother to Kyra and Zoe and especially loved spending time with them. Whether they were shopping together, getting their nails done for their birthdays, or she was in the crowd supporting them at one of their many activities, Wendy made sure her granddaughters knew how much they were loved. She was proud of them and loved simply being a part of their lives.
Wendy found joy in the things and people she loved. She enjoyed playing the piano and treasured the companionship of her beloved dog, Nova, who held a very special place in her heart.
Wendy is survived by her son, Joshua Kobow; daughter-in-law, Mori Kobow; granddaughters, Kyra and Zoe Kobow; sister, Michelle Rhodes and husband, Ron; and nephew, Ryan Wudtke and wife, Danelle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Quinten Hoffman and Marie (Smith) Hoffman.
Wendy’s faith remained steadfast even through her illness. In one of her own messages, she wrote that she believed “with every fiber of my being that Jesus is the Healer.” She explained that whether healing meant more time here with those she loved or going to Heaven and receiving a body that would never experience sickness or disease again, “I win either way.”
Those words beautifully capture Wendy’s faith, strength, and hope. While her family’s hearts are broken by her absence, they find comfort in knowing that Wendy has won. She is home with her Lord and Savior, completely healed, at peace, and free from pain.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 29, 2026 at Genesis Church, 5780 Virginia Pkwy, McKinney, TX 75071.
