Wendell Showecker of Allen, Texas passed away on September 27, 2019 at the age of 78. He was born on July 9, 1941 to Christopher Columbus and Sarah (Staley) Showecker in Indianapolis, Indiana. Wendell proudly served his country in the United States Army starting at the age of 19 and continued for six years. He retired from Davidson Lumber Company after 42 years. After being retired for six months, Wendell took a maintenance job at a local nursing home in Indianapolis for five years. In December 2012, he moved to Texas to be with his high school sweetheart and they’ve been together for the last seven years. Wendell was an all around good guy. If he could help, he would. He was always tinkering around the garage and he loved making plans for the next day.
He is survived by his life partner, Carolyn McGarth of Allen, Texas; daughter, Angela Marie Emmons and husband, Terry of Washington, Indiana; daughter, Tammy Lynn Baxter and husband, Mike of Indianapolis, Indiana; son, Wendell Steve Showecker, Jr. and wife, Nallia of Africa; stepdaughter, Kimberly Lynn McIntosh of Fort Worth, Texas; stepson, Warren Wayne McGarth, Jr. of Allen, Texas; stepdaughter, Allison Dyan McGarth of Allen, Texas; stepdaughter, Nicole Dawn Wheat and husband, Jacob of Alvarado, Texas; sister, Marie Ditchley of Indianapolis, Indiana; and numerous other loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Wendell was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Showecker; parents, Christopher and Sarah Showecker; brothers, Ronnie, Ray, Johnny, Gene, and Chuck Showecker; and sister, Louise.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
