Weldon Garfield Boggus, Jr. of McKinney, Texas passed away on January 1, 2018 at the age of 63. He was born on February 16, 1954 to Weldon Garfield Boggus, Sr. and Shirley Ann Price Boggus in Pecos, Texas. Weldon married his high school sweetheart Rebecca Marie Beckmann in 2002. He was a social worker who specialized in helping at risk youth.
Weldon devoted his life to helping others both in his career and his personal life. He lived to make people smile and often went to great lengths for the happiness of those he loved. A dedicated family man, Weldon shined most in his role as a grandfather. Whatever his grandchildren wanted, “Pops” made it happen.
He will forever be remembered as a southern gentleman that refused to let chivalry die, fixed whatever was broken, found whatever was lost, and made every stranger a friend.
Weldon is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Marie Beckmann of McKinney; children, Omi Ford and husband, Robert of Houston, Texas, Sarah Coward and husband, Ken of Memphis, Tennessee, Erron West and wife, Amy of Denton, Texas, Amanda West of Little Elm, Texas; Rachel Richardson of McKinney, Texas; Wil Richardson also of McKinney; grandchildren, Isabella and Trey Ford, Kaya and Stax Coward, Hope Atkinson, Richard, Zachary and Alana Kershner, Alexis and Trevor West, Maya Wilson; parents, Weldon and Shirley Boggus of Bryan, Texas; brother, Tom Boggus and wife, Charlene of Bryan, Texas; and numerous other loving family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.
