IN LOVING MEMORY

Webster Martin Telfor

Mar 08 1936 - Sep 09 2021

Webster Martin Telfor was born on March 8, 1936 in Vivian, Texas, to parents, Jerry and Pauline (Grundy) Telfor. He was the eldest of eight children. His family relocated to San Francisco, California at a young age and was raised in Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood located in San Francisco until he enlisted in the Marine Corp. Webster served his country from 1955-1959 during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1959.

Upon returning from the war, Webster had a wide variety of jobs. He served as a Longshoreman in Oakland, California; he worked at the Naval Air Base in Alameda, California; and drove a mail truck for the U.S. Postal Service. Always good with his hands and industrious, Webster also worked for many years as a plumber, painter, and all-around handy man. Webster worked until his death with his last position as a caretaker for his wife and a helper at a local car dealership.

On May 13, 1989, he married Thelma Murray, and they remained married until his death. At the time of their union, Webster had a young son, Daniel. Thelma also had an adult daughter and son, Angela (Maria) and Michael. Webster had a strong connection with all three of them.  Webster and Thelma lived many years in Oakland and Hanford, California until they relocated to McKinney, Texas in 2008.

The transition to Texas was easy for Webster because he never met a stranger. He loved to talk to people in the community and often shared stories about his time in the military, growing up in the Bay Area, and his love of “shoot em up” movies. He was a grandmaster on the grill and enjoyed preparing delicious ribs, brisket, and smoked meats for his family and friends. Webster remained in touch with family near and far through weekly (and sometimes daily) phone calls.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Jerry and Pauline Telfor; brothers, Bobby, Maurice, and Lawrence.

He leaves to mourn him his wife, Thelma; son, Daniel (Juatima); bonus children, Angela and Michael (Felicia); siblings, Betty Lang, Marilyn Busay, and Roy Simmons; aunt, Jules Garrett; hosts of grandchildren, one great grandchild, many cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
