Wayne Donald Strenger of Plano, Texas passed away on July 7, 2021 at the age of 82. He was born on May 9, 1939 to Donald John Strenger and Erna Martha Louise Hoegemeyer in Fremont, Nebraska. He grew up in Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska where he graduated from Cedar Bluffs High School in 1957. Wayne graduated in 1961 from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelors Degree in Business. He married Sandra Kay Emerson on August 4, 1961 in Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska. Wayne worked for Sherwin-Williams for 43 years and retired as the Division Training Manager in May 2004. At his retirement ceremony he was presented with the Sherwin-Williams University-The Strenger Center named in his honor.
Wayne was a co-founder of the PYSA soccer league and loved coaching and refereeing games for many years. He also enjoyed playing golf, watching all sports, was an avid Husker fan and participated in all the activities with the Men’s Group at Church. He also served on the board of the Lutheran Thrivent Insurance Company and was a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church, Plano, Texas.
Wayne was a very dedicated, loving father and husband. Wayne had an extremely generous heart and was always willing to help others. He truly embraced life and one of his biggest joys was spending time with his family and friends. He was loved by so many and he made a lasting impact on every path he crossed.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Sandra Kay Strenger of Plano, Texas; daughter, Kelly Lacey and husband, Bill of Shelton, Nebraska; daughter, Jill Gerard and husband, Lance of Houston, Texas; son, Mike Strenger and wife, Cheryl of Plano, Texas; son, Ryan Strenger and wife, Shannon of Plano, Texas; son, Steve Strenger and wife, Sona of Lake Balboa, California; son, Jeff Strenger of The Colony, Texas; daughter, Lisa Harris and husband, John of McKinney, Texas; son, Kent Strenger and wife, Deanna of Dallas, Texas; son, Mark Strenger and wife, Michelle of Bedford, Texas; son, Scott Strenger and wife, Lori of McKinney, Texas; son, Brett Strenger and wife, Mira of Honey Grove, Texas; son, Greg Strenger and wife, Aly of Rockwall, Texas; son, Brad Strenger and wife, Michelle of Colfax, North Carolina; son, Matt Strenger of Houston, Texas; and Amy Griffin Strenger of Henderson, Nevada; 33 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Dean Strenger and wife, Mary Jane of Santa Ana, California; sister, Cori Hoffman of Fremont, Nebraska; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kirk Matthew Strenger; brother, Richard Strenger and sister, Betty Stamm.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 12, 2021 at Faith Lutheran Church, 1701 East Park Boulevard, Plano, Texas 75074. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior at the church. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service.
