Wayne Hugo of Fairview, Texas passed away peacefully on August 29, 2024 at the age of 72. Wayne was born on May 28, 1952 in Brenham, Texas to Clifford and Alice Hugo.

Wayne was raised in Houston, Texas and graduated from Smiley High School in 1970. His life was marked by dedication and service. He proudly served his country in the United States Army before embarking on a remarkable career. In 1974, Wayne joined Blue Bell Creameries.

Over the next 45 years, Wayne's commitment and hard work led him from a delivery salesman to the esteemed role of Executive Vice President.

On August 5, 1989, Wayne married Marilyn. Together, they built a life filled with love and joy. Wayne was an avid golfer, with a special affection for his golfing buddies at the Brenham Country Club. He and Marilyn enjoyed spending time at the beach, lounging in the swimming pool and watching the Houston Astros. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

Wayne had a strong passion for work but an even stronger passion for people. He was extremely organized and gifted in strategic planning. He was a man of integrity, and his strong work ethic was second to none. He had the uncanny ability to give you constructive criticism while making you feel praised. He will be remembered for many things including best dressed with his amazing collection of ties. During his time with Blue Bell, Wayne and Marilyn spent 16 years in Mobile, Alabama where they met and enjoyed life with many cherished friends.

Wayne will be remembered fondly for his vibrant sense of humor and his knack for telling jokes. He was a loving husband, father, granddad, brother, and friend. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Wayne is survived by his wife Marilyn; son, Daniel Hugo (Christine); daughters, Misty Campbell (Don), and Susan Pesina; grandchildren, Haley, Jaden, Audrey, Reagan, and MaryAnn; brother, Randy Hugo (Kay); sisters, Mary Gorden (Bryan) and Cindy Hugo; nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Ann Hugo, his parents, and his adored nephew, Michael Jamison.

A burial service with military honors will be held 11:00 a.m., September 13, 2024 at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038.

The family will receive friends during a reception to be held at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038 on September 13, 2024 from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. following the committal service.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the charity of your choice in Wayne’s name.
