Wayne D. Phillips of Dallas, Texas passed away on June 3, 2026 at the age of 90.

Wayne was born on November 24, 1935 in Frisco, Texas to John William and Elsie Faye (Dawson) Phillips. He grew up in McKinney, Texas and graduated from McKinney High School before continuing his education at the University of North Texas.

On July 29, 1960, Wayne married Rubyrae Foster in McKinney, Texas. They were married for 37 years before Rubyrae passed away in 1997.

Wayne dedicated his career to education, serving as a principal in the Dallas Independent School District for 30 years, and was nominated as principal of the year in 1971 and 1972. A man of strong faith, Wayne was a longtime member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church in Dallas, where he was an ushering lieutenant and former Sunday school teacher. In his free time, he found joy in giving back to others by delivering Meals on Wheels. He also loved working crossword puzzles, reading and playing bridge. In his younger years, he enjoyed cycling, physical fitness and aerobics.

Wayne is survived by his son, Jason Phillips of Dallas, Texas; granddaughter, Breanna Davila and husband, Alex of Princeton, Texas; and great granddaughter, Analeigh Mae Davila.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rubyrae, and sister, Ina Janelle Phillips.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, Wynne Chapel, 3821 University Blvd, Dallas, TX 75205.
