Warren E. Church

Mr. Warren E. Church, age 89, formerly of Sherman, Texas passed away March 3, 2004, in Sweetwater, Texas. He was born September 15, 1914, in Snyder, Texas to Joseph D. and Seatta (Benton) Church. He was a graduate of Colorado City High School and Texas A&M, where he played football and was in the Corp. On April 2, 1942, he married Helen Virginia Oden in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Mr. Church served in the U.S. Army Air Corp and was a veteran of World War II. He received several medals and decorations during his tour of service to include the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 9 Oak Leaf clusters, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the American Campaign Medal. Mr. Church retired from Soil Conservation in Grayson County after 40 years of service. He was also a longtime Charolais Cattle Breeder in Sherman and of the Church of Christ faith. He is survived by several nieces, nephews and other loving relatives. His wife, Helen Virginia Oden preceded him in death on October 20, 1990. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 6, 2004, at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. Mr. Church will lie in repose Friday, March 5, 2004, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
