Wandene Nordyke (Hardy) Ratheal of Plano, Texas passed away on February 5, 2022 at the age of 94. She was born on November 27, 1927 to O.H. Hardy and Edna (Ellis) Hardy in Stamford, Texas. Wandene grew up in Stamford and graduated from Stamford High School. She then moved to Lubbock, Texas to attend Texas Tech University. While there, she met Doyle Nordyke, and they married in 1947. While raising her family, she was a partner in Doyle Nordyke Drilling Company. After Doyle’s passing in 1975, Wandene became a Real Estate Broker, and she enjoyed working in the real estate industry for 27 years.
In 2001, Wandene married Dr. C. Melvin Ratheal, and moved to Sun City West, Arizona. They were very active in their church and community until Mel’s passing in 2011.
Wandene was an accomplished musician, playing the piano and organ for church, weddings, and community events for most of her life. She greatly enjoyed playing the piano and continued playing until she became ill.
Wandene is survived by her daughter, Dr. Nordyke and husband, Justo Vargas of Plano, Texas; granddaughter, Elizabeth Dawley and husband, Michael Dawley of Plano, Texas; great-granddaughter, Isabella Dawley of Plano, Texas; sister, Beth Shanks and husband, Clarence; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, Doyle Nordyke and C. Mel Ratheal; and son, Randy Nordyke.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 19, 2022 2021 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
