Wandalene Cook Nichols of Dallas, Texas passed away on June 18, 2020 at the age of 90. Wanda was born in McKinney, Texas on May 5, 1930, to Johnny D. Cook and Gracie Lusk Cook. She married E. L. “Lee” Nichols on July 2, 1949, in McKinney, and they later moved to the Oklahoma City area where they lived for many years.
Wanda is survived by her son David Nichols and wife, Robin of Dallas, Texas; sister Patti Bristow and husband Glenn of Salisbury, North Carolina; grandchildren Erin Morton and husband Josh of Solvang, CA, Rob Nichols and fiancé Ally Tilley of Boston, MA, and Courtney Nichols of Dallas, Texas; great grandchildren Mason and Rylan Morton; and very special “adopted” nieces Vicki Uptmore and husband Danny of Hewitt, Texas and Renda Amundson and husband Milt of Lorena, Texas, as well as other nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved very much.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lee, son Ronald L. Nichols, and her parents.
Wanda was an active member of New Covenant Christian Church in Oklahoma City for many years and loved attending church there with her many friends. She played the piano and organ and was an excellent cook. She worked outside the home for many years before retirement but will be forever known for her greatest achievement of being a wonderful and loving wife and mother, as well as a great friend to many.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 22, 2020 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas, 75013.
The family requests that memorials be made in Wanda’s name to New Covenant Christian Church, 12000 North Rockwell Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK, 73162 or the First Christian Church, 1800 West Hunt Street, McKinney, TX 75069.
