IN LOVING MEMORY

Walter Eugene Knight

Oct 08 1953 - Sep 01 2025

Walter Eugene Knight, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, at the age of 71.

Born on October 8, 1953, in Savannah, Georgia, Walter was the son of William Ray Knight and Elizabeth Gene Gunnin. He spent much of his formative years in Midland, Texas, where he graduated from Robert E. Lee High School (now known as Legacy Senior High School) in 1972.

After high school, Walter went on to serve his country and was apart of the United States Army and worked as military police from 1973 to 1976.

Walter pursued higher education at the University of Texas at Odessa, where he studied criminal justice — a field that became both his career and calling. He served his community through a distinguished career in law enforcement that spanned over 30 years. During his tenure, Walter worked as a Patrol Sergeant for Midland Police Department, a Criminal Investigator for Texas Department of Corrections, and a polygraph examiner, a role that showcased his integrity, keen insight, and dedication to truth.

On May 25, 1974, Walter married the love of his life, Ruth Eva House, in Dallas, Texas. Together, they built a life grounded in love, commitment, and mutual respect.

Outside of his professional life, Walter found great joy in the simple pleasures. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time outdoors. He also had a passion for firearms and was known to appreciate a good day at the shooting range. His sense of humor, sharp wit, and easygoing nature made him a joy to be around.

Walter will be remembered for his unwavering sense of duty, his devotion to family, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched through both his work and personal relationships.

He is survived by his wife Ruth Eva Knight of Garland, Texas; daughter, Elizabeth Ruth Baldovsky and husband Christopher of McKinney, Texas; brother, William Paul Knight and wife, Laurie of Sweeny, Texas; niece, Ashley Cade; niece, Emily DeLoy; niece, Crista House; niece, Krishouna Merriman; niece, Marie Baxter; and a host of other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents William Ray Knight and Elizabeth Gene (Gunnin) Knight; and brother, Donald Ray Knight.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 19, 2025, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
