Wade Edward Goodwin, Jr., a resident of McKinney, Texas, passed away on February 23, 2024, at the age of 74, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on February 8, 1950, in Charleston, South Carolina, to Wade Edward Goodwin, Sr., and Mary Earlene (Googe) Goodwin.

Wade served his country with pride in the United States Army before embarking on a career that would span decades with the Texas Department of Transportation. As an inspector and engineer technician, he dedicated 40 years of his life to ensuring the safety and efficiency of transportation infrastructure.

Wade found love and companionship in Rolanda Scott Cohea, whom he married and shared countless cherished memories with. Together, they embarked on a journey, where they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Wade was a man of many interests, with a deep love for sports and a love for knowledge, particularly in history, which he avidly read about. However, above all else, family was most important to him. He cherished his nightly conversations with his brother and held a soft spot in his heart for his dogs, who brought him immense joy and companionship.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness as a loving son, devoted husband, caring stepfather, supportive brother, and loyal friend. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Wade is survived by his beloved wife, Rolanda Cohea Goodwin; stepdaughter, Tess Cohea, both of McKinney, Texas; brother, Tommy Googe and wife, Tracey of South Carolina; and a host of other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Debbie Googe.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
