Vonnie Beth Neely, 87, of McKinney, Texas passed away February 27, 2022 after health complications.
Vonnie was born on February 5, 1935, daughter of parents Hilley Lee (1899-1955) and Plummer Boozer (1897-1974) Johnson, in Como-Pickton, Texas. On February 18, 1956, she married her soul mate, Billy Neely, and went on to have three beautiful children, Patty Buchanan, Kelly Kaczor, and Gene Neely.
During her long residence in McKinney, her career included working at Haggar Slacks, Wysong Hospital, and Nursing Home, and in the cafeteria for McKinney ISD. In 1994 Vonnie retired and spent her spare time sewing, quilting with her sisters, and baking delicious treats.
Beloved sister to brothers Denver, Lloyd, Franklin, Odell, Wendell, Aubrey, and Woodrow Johnson and sisters Alma Davis and Ruby Roberts. Vonnie, also known to many as Mimi, will be remembered for her love and sole focus for her family and her fiery spirit. Those left to cherish her memory include her life companion, Billy Neely, her loving children, Patty Buchanan and partner Dennis Peet, Kelly Kaczor and son-in-law Mike Kaczor, Gene Neely and daughter-in-law Jeanne Neely. Her grandchildren include Justin Buchanan, Jonathan Buchanan and wife Emily, Tiffany Harpole and husband Jeffery, Lauren Neely, Brandon Neely, Morgan Neely, and great- grandchildren Skiley Buchanan, Kaden Sadler, Braden Sadler, Makalee Sadler, Hadlee Harpole and Lennox Buchanan. Also remembering Mimi are many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Vonnie will be desperately missed by those she’s left behind. She was one of a kind and it was a true blessing to be loved by her. Visitation will be Friday, March 4, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and funeral services on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
