Vivian Doris Jenkins Bruce

Mrs. Vivian Doris Jenkins Bruce; Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Nurse, Friend…  She was born March 3, 1928 in Billmore, Missouri to Hugh and Luster Jenkins.  She took her first breath in Heaven on July 22, 2017, at 7:22 a.m.  No doubt, she was met at Heaven’s gates by her beloved husband of fifty-seven years, Owen Bruce, as well as a host of other family and friends.

In addition to her husband, Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Luster Jenkins, brothers, Joe Jenkins and Glen Jenkins, sister, Kathy Orlando, niece, Gerrianne, and her faithful companion, Sophie.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol and husband Gary Myers, and Nancy Bruce; grandchildren, Daniel Taylor Myers (Laura), John Gundar Myers, and Elina Grace Myers; great-grandchildren, Taylor David Myers and Hope Elizabeth Myers.  She is also survived by her youngest brother, Ed Jenkins, and twelve nieces and nephews.

Vivian retired from Baylor Hospital of Garland in the mid-nineties after a long and fulfilling career, caring for the needs of thousands of patients throughout the years.  She also served faithfully as a Girl Scout leader for many years.  Foremost, she was a Christian.  She served her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ at Lavon Drive Baptist Church in Garland for over fifty-one years.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 28, 2017 at Lavon Drive Baptist Church, 1520 Lavon Drive, Garland, Texas  75040.  A service celebrating her life will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Lavon Drive Baptist Church.  Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas, at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to either of the following.  Both ministries brought joy to her heart.
