IN LOVING MEMORY

Virginia Marlene Wilson

Feb 14 1936 - Sep 16 2018

Virginia “Ginger” Marlene Wilson, 82, of Plano, TX passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 16, 2018 at Medical City Plano.  Ginger was born February 14, 1936 in Colon, Nebraska to Florence and Oliver Proett.  She was the only girl out of 6 children. Having a Valentine’s Day birthday is perfect for such a loving, beautiful and incredible person. Ginger was so accepting and engaging with everyone she met. Ginger was a very strong woman. After her husband passed away in 1990, she lived independently for almost 3 decades. She always said and did whatever she wanted to do. She touched so many people’s lives with her comments, quirks and humor. Ginger was unlike anyone else, she was so extraordinary and unique - she left a lasting impression with everyone she met. Ginger was so wise and simultaneously had such a whimsical and childlike nature. Ginger loved looking her best, watching her TV shows, shopping and going out to eat with her family and collecting many dolls and teddy bears.  Ginger met the love of her life, Earl Wilson, at college in Wayne, Nebraska. They married in 1956 and soon after, Earl’s job (Texas Instruments) brought them to Texas where they raised their family in Richardson (1960’s), Houston(1970’s) and Plano (1980’s ++). She was a homemaker and, together, she and Earl had three children: David Wilson, Jackie Harris (Anthony) and Scott Wilson. She loved being a mother; it was all she ever wanted to do. She was a devoted mother who wanted the best for her children and was supportive and so committed to loving and taking care of her family. Even through their adulthood, she continued to relish her role as a mother and was always there for them. Ginger has 9 grandchildren: Jordan, Zachary, Hailee, Brooke, Kamryn, Brynne, Reed, Reilly and Brett. She was a wonderful grandmother who opened her home and heart on many occasions to her grandkids - all of whom had a unique, special, and distinct relationship with her.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Earl Wilson; her parents, Oliver and Florence Proett; her brothers, Aubrey and Maurice Proett, and her grand dog, Button. She has three surviving siblings, Robert (Debbie), Oliver (Georgeann) and Fred (Cheryl) Proett.

Ginger will be greatly missed and, hopefully, her memory will allow us all to remember to ‘take it easy’ in life.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.
