IN LOVING MEMORY

Virginia Margaret Burke

Dec 25 1948 - Nov 19 2021

Virginia “Gigi” Margaret Burke of Allen, Texas passed away on November 19, 2021 at the age of 72.  She was born on December 25, 1948 to John F and Virginia (Ray) Murphy in Somerville, Massachusetts.  Virginia grew up in Marshfield, Massachusetts where she graduated from Marshfield High School in 1966.  She worked as a social worker for the State of Massachusetts for over 30 years. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jack Murphy. She is survived by her daughter, Courtney Hathcock of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Trini Douglas and husband, Nate of Lubbock, Texas, Tonia Carroll of San Antonio, Texas, Tia Carroll of Lubbock, Texas, Taylor Carroll of Allen, Texas, and Tatum Carroll of Allen, Texas; great grandchildren, Ethan Douglas, Ellie Douglas, Valencia Carroll, and Seraphina Carroll; dog, Hazel; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Gigi was many things, but soft spoken was not one of them. If you had the pleasure of knowing Gigi, you know that you never had to wonder what she was thinking. If she thought it, she said it. While Gigi may have come across rough around the edges, she showed her love in other ways; Like giving out gift cards at the grocery store, helping out those in a tough spot, and reminding you to know your own worth. Gigi had a way of giving you the advice you never knew you needed, while always remaining poised and controlled. When Gigi wasn’t at one of her granddaughters’ sporting events, you could find her sitting on the front porch reading a book or watching her favorite movie, The Hunger Games. She loved the beach, crafting, lobster and an iced coffee made just right.  While Gigi may not be with us today, her advice and teachings will live on forever through her daughter Courtney and her five granddaughters (plus grand son-in-law) that stole her heart.

Gigi wanted to make it clear that if she had known how decades of smoking would have affected her quality of life, she never would have started.  In lieu of any type of donation, Gigi is asking you to stop smoking/vaping and not make the same mistake she did.
