IN LOVING MEMORY

Virginia Marie Hendricks

Jun 08 1934 - Sep 10 2021

Virginia “Marie” Hendricks passed away on September 10, 2021 in Farmersville, Texas at the age of 87, in her home with her family by her side. She was born on June 8, 1934 to Hubert Oliver and Grace (Addington) Poor in Princeton, Texas. Marie married the love of her life, Jack Wendell Hendricks on March 7, 1953. They met at the Ritz Theatre in McKinney, Texas. They shared 67 years of marriage together and were blessed with 3 beautiful children. Marie was a 1952 graduate of McKinney High School. She then attended North Texas University, and graduated in 1959 with a teaching degree. Her kind, gentle and giving personality was shared with many young children as she went on to teach at the elementary school level in the Garland Independent School District. She loved children and had great patience and passion for teaching. She later went on to earn her master’s degree and Educational Diagnostician Certification.  She served as a student Diagnostician within the district and retired in 1993 after 32 years of service. Marie loved her family and had 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren which she adored. She was present at each of their births, and never missed sending each of them a birthday card, even after they became adults. She loved her big family and cherished getting together and making memories. She loved having friends and family get together, hosting parties and making food for her guests. Some of her most loved recipes are still enjoyed in the kitchens of her children and grandchildren, as she passed them down. She was blessed with a compassionate heart, kindness, beauty, and grace as well as a sharp mind that always welcomed learning new things. She enjoyed traveling, exploring and learning about different places in the world alongside her dear love, Jack. Their love for each other was larger than life and inspired many.

Marie is survived by her son, Wendell and his wife, Dee of Atlanta; son, Mike of Blue Ridge; daughter, Lori of Pottsboro; grandchildren, Lauren, Chase, Michael, Will, Chandler, Lana, Arian, and Arben; two great grandchildren, Brayden and Jack; and her two sisters, Shirley Kulp of Allen and Sue Simms of Colorado.
