Virgil Ray Farr, age 76, of Anna, Texas, passed away November 17, 2017. Virgil was born May 24, 1941, in Eden, Texas, to Emzie Ray and Charley Virgil (Pierce) Farr. He married Hilda Wolff on December 30, 1960, in Odessa, Texas. Virgil was the pastor at the Churches of Christ in Olney, Texas, Pawnee, Oklahoma, Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Lewisville, Texas, Odessa, Texas, and for the next twenty-nine years he pastored at Grace Fellowship in McKinney, Texas, formerly the Carlisle Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Hilda Farr of Anna, Texas; son, Brett Farr and wife, Patty of Lewisville, Texas; grandchildren, Kendra Vreeland and husband, Adam of Houston, Texas, Heath Farr of Dallas, Texas, and Jake Farr and wife, Emily of Austin, Texas; great-granddaughter, Adalyn Brielle Vreeland; nephew, Rocky Newman and wife, Shannon of Merit, Texas; nieces, Gwen Arveson and husband, Scott of Blanchard, Oklahoma and Brandi Callahan and husband, Nathen of Bethany, Oklahoma; Lindsey Farr of Enid, Oklahoma and Lacey Boyer and husband Tim of Fairview, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Gertrude Miller and husband, Lon of Lubbock, Texas; and a host of cousins and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Kent Farr, brother, Fred Farr, and sisters, Billie Newman, Jean Smith, and Jackie McAnally.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at Grace Fellowship Church, 124 Carlisle St., McKinney, Texas, 75071. Interment will follow at Van Alstyne Cemetery, 300 S. Sherman St., Van Alstyne, Texas, 75495. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday evening at the church.
