Vincent Elmer Schlueter, a devoted husband, loving father, favorite brother, and dedicated community member, passed away at his home in Parker, Texas, on May 18, 2023. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on May 24, 1958, to his late parents, Dr. James A. and Mary Therese "Terry" Schlueter.
Vince spent most of his life in the Dallas area after moving from Cincinnati, where he attended the University of Cincinnati and was a proud member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He embarked on a successful career in telecommunications infrastructure, starting at Texas Instruments in 1982, and was widely respected for his expertise and dedication.
Vince was a man of diverse passions, chief among them his love for golf, a sport he enjoyed as a pastime and a way of life. He reveled in the quiet moments on the links, his joy and friendly competitiveness infectious to all who joined him. Beyond his personal pursuits, he found fulfillment in coaching various sports teams alongside his boys and even celebrated multiple little league championships under his leadership. His dedication to sports extended to a 20-year commitment as a college and pro-am basketball referee, a role he undertook with sincerity and respect for the game. His service was a testament to his deep love for sports.
Vince’s contributions to his community were significant in the broader strokes of his life. He staunchly supported John Paul II High School and took great pride in maintaining and improving his beloved home in Parker. Traveling held a special place in his heart. Whether with friends or family, every journey was an adventure filled with laughter and memories that will be cherished forever.
Vince's family was the center of his universe. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 37 years, Lyndi, and his two proud sons, Brennen and Devin. He is also survived by his three older sisters, Mary Ellen (Bob) Rechtin, Karyn (Jerry) King, and Paula Smith, and a host of nieces and nephews he loved dearly who will remember him fondly as their caring and supportive brother and uncle.
Vince was a beacon of light in the lives of all who knew him, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. His life and legacy will continue to be celebrated, just as he would have wanted.
Services to honor and celebrate Vince's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 27, 2023 at St. Mark Catholic Church in Plano. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend and remember his remarkable life and legacy.
