Vincent Paul Jones, of McKinney, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on September 1, 2026. Everyone who knew Vince can tell you a different aspect of his personality – to some, he was their favorite chef; to others, he was their teacher, mentor, or friend, but to him – everyone was his family.
He was born on June 28, 1968, in Dallas, Texas, to Samuel Aubrey Jones III and Linda Sue Springer. Vince was raised in Leonard, Texas, where he also graduated from high school in 1986. In 1986, he joined the United States Army. He spent the following 11 years as a decorated Army Sergeant, traveling and living in different places around the globe, in which time he also welcomed 3 of his children. After completing his service to his country, he moved his family to Dodd City, Texas, and found a passion in diesel mechanics. Prior to his death, Vince spent years working for Bond Equipment Company.
Above all else, Vince found his greatest joy in being a Papa. He cherished each of his many grandchildren and took immense pride in watching them grow, making memories with them, and being there for moments that mattered most. His grandchildren brought a special light to his life, and his love for them was immeasurable. To them, he wasn’t just their Papa – he was a source of love, laughter, wisdom, and memories they will carry with them forever.
Vince is preceded in death by his long-term partner, Shelley Annie Richardson; his brother, James Erik Eaton; his father, Samuel Aubrey Jones III; and numerous extended family members. He is survived by his grandmother, Dora Vickers of Ore City; his mother, Linda Eaton of Ore City; former wife, Christine Jones of Grand Prairie; former wife, Dana Keel of Bells; his brothers, Aubrey Jones of Brooklyn, New York, and Jacob Jones (and wife Cristina) of Bells; his sister, Amy Eaton of Moore, OK; his children, Chris Jones (and husband John) of Sanger, Leslie Jones (and partner Cassie) of Princeton, Craig Jones (and wife Angela) of McKinney, and Trevor Richardson of McKinney; grandchildren, Emlyn, Michael, Jonathan, Victoria, Seth, and Christopher; nephew, James Eaton II; great-niece, Bonnie Eaton; niece, Andalyn Eaton; and numerous extended family and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
Committal services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211. Please arrive no later than 11:15 a.m.
