Vernon Ray Burns of McKinney, Texas passed away on November 7, 2018 at the age of 87. He was born on September 21, 1931 in Fort Worth, Texas to Horace and Ollie (Leach) Burns. Vernon served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He married the love of his life, Jaynie Deur on July 19, 1958 in McKinney, Texas. Vernon was a mechanic for Fischer Ford for many years. He was a volunteer firefighter for the McKinney Fire Department from April, 1965 to January, 1979. Vernon retired from the City of McKinney, Parks Department, after 20 years of employment.
He is survived by his daughter, Julie Guerra of Prosper, Texas; son, Jeff Burns and wife, Amanda of Lufkin, Texas; grandchildren, Matthew Guerra and wife, Felicia of McKinney, Texas, Stephanie Guerra of Prosper, Texas, Haylee Guerra of McKinney, Texas, R.J. Grantham of Celeste, Texas, Jeffrey Burns of Lufkin, Texas; great-grandchildren, Matthew Guerra, Jr., Jaynie Guerra, Annabelle Guerra, Travis Guerra, Eric Johnson; sisters, Lou Spann of Corinth, Texas and Norma Turner of Burleson, Texas; and numerous other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Jaynie; sister, Wanda Westbrook; brothers, Monte Burns and Billy Burns.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas with a one hour visitation prior to the service. Interment will immediately follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Friday to pay their respects and to sign the register book.
