Veriato Lima

Jan 18 1936 - Mar 20 2026

Veriato Lima, commonly known as Verie, passed away on March 20, 2026. He was born on January 18, 1936, in South Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

He graduated from Dartmouth High School located in Dartmouth, Massachusetts in 1953, then served in the United States Navy for four years, where he learned to operate, maintain and repair sonar equipment used to detect enemy submarines. This created an interest that led to the pursuit of a degree in electronic engineering at Indiana Institute of Technology located in Fort Wayne, Indiana after completing his military service.

In 1961, Verie completed his studies at Indiana Tech and received a Degree in Electronics Engineering. He accepted a position with Minneapolis Honeywell in Clearwater, Florida, designing and testing elements of stabilization platforms for unmanned spacecraft systems.

Prior to leaving for his new work assignment, Verie attended a fraternity party where he met Shirley Glass, a girl from north of Fort Wayne. They were married in 1961 and recently celebrated their 64th anniversary.

In 1963, he accepted a position with Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas with the initial tasks of using newly developed integrated circuits designed to reduce the critical weight and power requirements of spacecraft systems. He started as a circuit designer and eventually managed the department prior to his retirement in 1996.

Verie was an avid sports fan, following the Red Sox fan as a child, and eventually became a supporter of all the local teams in Texas.

He is survived by his sons Jeffrey and Richard, and Richard's wife Jeanie and grandchildren Micheal, Cody, Hayleigh and Aubrey. He was preceded in death by his daughter Tammy and his wife Shirley.
